"Battlestar Galactica" veteran Katee Sackhoff is gearing up for another action-packed battle and this time it'll be on the bigscreen, as she's agreed to join former MMA fighter Gina Carano in an all-female riff on "The Expendables" that 1984 Private Defense Contractors is producing.

Adi Shankar will produce for 1984 Private Defense Contractors, which plans to fully finance the "Expendables"-inspired project.

Dutch Southern ("Hoof Harrington's Greatest Hits") was tapped to write the estrogen-powered action pic back in August, and several prominent actresses affiliated with the action genre continue to circle the project.

"If you spend five minutes with Katee it becomes blatantly obvious that she would pwn (sic) most male action stars," said Shankar, (you got that right) who recently co-produced Joe Carnahan's "The Grey," Pete Travis' "Dredd 3D" and Andrew Dominik's upcoming Brad Pitt starrer "Killing Them Softly," which The Weinstein Company will release Nov. 30.

Sackhoff, who gained a sizable following after playing Capt. Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace on "Battlestar Galactica," recently starred on A&E Network's "Longmire" and also played a key role in the eighth season of "24." Thesp will soon be seen battling aliens alongside Vin Diesel in Universal's untitled "Chronicles of Riddick" sequel and has also wrapped "The Haunting in Georgia" and "Sexy Evil Genius." She's currently shooting Film District's horror pic "Oculus" with Brenton Thwaites and Rory Cochrane.
