Ellen Page will make her directorial debut with a comedic high school drama titled Miss Stevens.

Anna Faris is attached to star as the title character, a teacher whose life is in disarray who ends up chaperoning a group of high schoolers on a weekend trip to a state drama competition. While on the trip, she rediscovers her own self-worth via the humanity of her students.

Julia Hart wrote the script.

Producing the adult coming-of-age story are Gary Gilbert and Jordan Horowitz of Gilbert Films along with Doug Wald of Anonymous Content. Nicole Romano and Trevor Adley of Anonymous Content will serve as executive producers.

Gilbert Films was one of the entities behind Lisa Cholodenko’s drama The Kids Are Allright while Anonymous Content recently was a producer on Fun Size and Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.

Page next appears in Fox Searchlight’s The East, which premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and this spring will shoot X-Men: Days of Future Past.
